Cool Painting Link

Good morning!

I've stumbled across the website for Country Living Magazine, and let me tell you - there is so much information and tons of lovely photos to drool over!

This morning I found an app that allows you to choose different paint colors and combinations and "virtually" paint a room. A great way to see how colors may look together without even picking up a paint brush!

I've heard that you should always ALWAYS get at least a sample paint chip to bring home and check out in the actual room that you will be painting. Get an idea of how the colors look in different light. This is a great idea. Your lovely sage green on your monitor may just be a drab olive greyish brown mess in person!

An even better way to get a true idea of how a color would work in your room (could they MAKE paint chip samples any smaller???) is to grab a tiny amount of the paint itself and use it to paint up your own little "sample board". This could be something as simple as a piece of posterboard or a spare piece of plywood (if you happen to have a stash of spare pieces of plywood somewhere). That way, you will have a much larger surface to drag around to different areas of the room, instead of a teeny tiny paint chip that cannot be seen from 3 feet away! You may want to make sure that your supplier will accept returns on opened cans of paint first, or you could be stuck with it if it's not to your liking.

But I loved this application from Country Living - my daughter wants her room painted in pink, yellow, red, green and blue. Yes all together. We're thinking a yellow base for the walls, green along the bottom (to simulate grass or a garden?) Maybe a strip of blue across the top of the walls (to look like a bright sunny day) and some red flowers painted on the walls. But you can be sure that I'm going to fool around with different ideas online before I go buy anything!

Have you ever had a great idea for some unique painting color combinations, but are still afraid to try it out? I'd love to hear how it worked out for you!
